It is the last week in May and that can only mean one thing! Strawberry season on the North Fork is coming! Though we have heard reports of U-Pick being delayed approximately 2 weeks, due to cooler Spring temperature, feel free to check in with your location of choice for availability. If your family loves in-season, local strawberries as much as mine does, check out where you can go to pick your own berries when the season begins!
GARDEN OF EVE ORGANIC FARM & MARKET
Garden of Eve is located at 4558 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. Strawberry picking is open daily from 10 AM - 6 PM at $4.50 a quart. Stop in their cafe, or fully stocked farmstand while you are there! They also have a garden center to meet all of your at-home gardening needs. They host various festivals throughout the year, have annual CSA's, children's birthday parties and hold cooking classes! Golden Earthworm Organic Farm is located at 652 Peconic Bay Boulevard in Jamesport. Mainly a production farm, they do have U-Pick strawberries on select days listed on their website. Prices are $4.50 per quart. They also offer farm walking tours on select days and times.
LEWINS FARM
Lewins Farm is located at 812 Sound Avenue in Wading River. Their pick your own schedule varies according to weather and availability. It is best to call them prior to coming out to the farm. 631.929.4327.
Patty's Berries and Bunches is located at 410 Sound Avenue in Mattituck, across the street from Harbes Family Farm. Strawberries can be bought per quart at the farmstand or you can pick your own at $5 per quart. Patty's keeps a handy updated berry chart on their website so you always know what is in season and available for picking. Open daily, rain or shine from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
ROTTKAMP'S FOX HOLLOW FARM
Rottkamp's Fox Hollow Farm is located at 143 Sound Avenue in Baiting Hollow. They offer pick your own berries on Friday's 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday's 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday's 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Call ahead for current weather conditions, pricing and picking availability. WINDY ACRES FARM
Windy Acres Farm is located at 3810 Middle Country Road in Calverton. They offer U-Pick strawberries according to availability, usually early June. They also have a wooden structure playground, slides, tunnels etc. available for customers and picnic tables. Strawberries can be bought in their fully stocked farmstand as well.
