Our Local Beaches Are Open! What You Need to Know.

From the TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD: Starting Saturday, May 29th, Town of Hempstead beaches are open daily with parking fees collected from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and lifeguards on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Beaches operated by the Town of Hempstead include Town Park Pt. Lookout, Lido Beach Town Park and Lido West Town Park. In addition to lifeguards on duty, the Town of Hempstead Emergency Medical Services Department will be on hand to respond to emergency situations. Town lifeguards will be stationed at beaches every day of the week continuing up until Labor Day, September 6th.

As per New York State’s safety directive, social distancing will be enforced and Hempstead Town will continue to follow all CDC guidelines. The daily parking fee is $10 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Walk-in rates at Lido West Town Park are free for residents with identification and $20 for non-residents.

The 2021 Season Beach Parking Pass, which permits parking at all 3 town beaches, is available for purchase at the Point Lookout Office.  The price for residents is $125, but $75 for seniors (60+), handicapped, auxiliary police, volunteer firefighters, veterans and active military. Avid beachgoers should not miss out on this opportunity!

Daily parking is $10 for town residents with proof of residency, $50 for nonresidents ($50 for nonresidents at Lido Beach Town Park).

Buy a beach pass online or at the gazebo, 150 W. Bay Dr., across from the ice arena, May 15 - June 25 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Mon. - Fri. and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekends. Passes also available at the Beach Park Trailer, 300 W. Broadway, at Laurelton Boulevard beginning June 28 - Sept. 6, 9 a.m.-  4 p.m. daily. 

Resident daily and seasonal passes: $70 ages 18-61, $20 ages 62 and older, $25 ages 13-17, $90 family (2 parents and children in same household), resident day pass $12. 

Nonresident daily and seasonal pass: $140 ages 18-61, $40 ages 62 and older, $50 ages 13-17, $180 family (2 parents and children in same household), nonresident day pass $15.

Plus a small dog park.

Fee Parking $15 a day with Leisure Pass Memorial Day - Labor Day; $37 without Leisure pass.

Beach 6 1/2 miles on ocean; part of a 2,413-acre park, 2-mile boardwalk

Amenities Multi-use bike path that stretches west from Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh to Field 1 to the West End 2 parking lot, and stretches eastern to Tobay Beach, bathhouse, splash pad water park, beach shops, refreshment stands, the Gatsby on the Ocean restaurant, boardwalk cafe, recreation areas.

Fee $10 a car daily May 28 - Sept. 12; $8 weekends and holidays May 23 - May 27 and Sept. 13 - Nov. 7.

Beach Beach 3 St. to Beach 153 St. and Boardwalk to Atlantic Ocean. NYC Parks maintains 14 miles of beaches.

Beach hours: Beaches are open from Memorial Day weekend through September 12, 2021. During beach season, lifeguards are on duty daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed sections. Closed sections are marked with signs and/or red flags.


Surf Beach: Yes
Surf beaches are located between Beach 68 - Beach 71 Street, Beach 87 - Beach 91 Street, and Beach 110 - Beach 111 Street.
